Relate Survey Reveals Financial Problems Causing Family Strain In The UK

A survey has suggested that UK's ongoing financial problems are putting an increasing strain on family relationships. Of 2,742 people polled by the Relate charity, 59% were worried about their economic prospects for the new year.

Covering their own household bills remains the top concern for most, while 38% admitted financial problems and worries had led to more family arguments and stress. Relate said politicians should take into account the cost to the economy of families breaking up.

Living Costs

The study was designed to assess the impact of current economic difficulties on relationships. More than half of those asked were worried about prospects for themselves or their families, and most were more stressed about meeting day-to-day living costs than about illness or keeping their jobs.

Some 93% said that, in tough times, their family relationships were important to them. The survey found that almost six out of 10 people shared their fears and concerns about financial or other worries with their partner, and four in 10 turned to other family members.

Financial problems mostly affected women as they worried more about covering everyday costs - with 55% expressing this fear compared to 49% of men.

Mortgage Lenders Predict Pick-up In Sales And Lending In 2013

House sales and mortgage lending should rise next year, says the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

CML predicts that activity will be boosted by the government’s Funding for Lending Scheme, which channels cheap funds to banks and building societies.

Council of Mortgage Lenders said sales had already risen this year, and should increase again in 2013, to about 950,000.

But it warned that demand for mortgages might be hindered by the poor state of the economy.

“Whereas the Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS) was conceived by the UK authorities to mitigate the worst impacts of a potential fresh credit crunch, its launch has in fact coincided with a more positive external funding environment, in part due to European Central Bank actions,” said the CML’s chief economist Bob Pannell.

How To Move Your Debt To A Cheaper Credit Card

The question I often come across is whether it is possible to move one’s debt to a cheaper credit card? Yes, it’s very possible and even more beneficial to the cardholder!

During the course of the last four or five years, credit card providers have progressively tightened up their acceptance criteria for customers.

“Quality lending” is very much their mantra and this has effectively developed a three-tier market for consumers looking for a credit card.

If you have a good credit rating you can largely take your pick from the best deals available.

If you are still deemed to be acceptable in terms of credit risk, but your credit rating is not top notch, then you will still be able to get a credit card. However you may find the interest rate charged is higher than the keenest rates advertised.

As a credit status deteriorates an increasing number of consumers are unable to get credit cards.

Special Deals

For now, there remain some very attractive offers. For instance, you can get a 0% introductory rate on balance transfers for as long as 17 months or a 0% introductory rate on purchases for 13 months.

Because introductory offers are often the most attractive deals, there is still a significant incentive for those with good credit ratings to change their credit card on a regular basis.

The new “positive repayment hierarchy” has lessened that incentive somewhat. For example, it paid to use your 0% balance transfer card only for that purpose and not use it for making any purchases.

But there are still reasons to have more than one card. This is because the longest 0% introductory purchase deal will almost certainly be from a different card than that offering the longest 0% balance transfer.

Personal Finance Tips: Top 5 Hidden And Obvious Benefits Of Having And Using Credit Cards

Despite a recent survey that showed most people get into debt through their credit cards, there are some great benefits of having a credit card.

Most of the credit card debts are usually caused by reckless spending probably because people can’t just resist the temptations of using credit cards to shop.

If you are not that good at money management, credit cards are extremely tempting, and with the high interest, they can be really dangerous. But for those with frugal or prudent money management skills, there are some hidden as well as obvious benefits of having and using credit cards.

Top 5 Reasons You Should Have A Credit Card

1. Credit Cards Can Improve Your Credit Score

If you have not borrowed money before, your potential lenders may find it difficult to judge your credibility - whether you are a good credit risk or you are not. But having a credit card as well as using it and making payments on time will boost your credit score.

This will make it easier for you to get a mortgage or loan. Having credit cards is good for building your credit rating. However, you must ensure that you pay the balance off in full every month as not only will this be more beneficial for your score, but it will mean you avoid paying interest too.

Black Eyeliner Tips And Tricks: How To Wear Black Eyeliner

Black eyeliner is a great tool for adding definition to the eyes and it's owned by every beauty buff.

To some people, eyeliner is one of the most important cosmetics they can't live without because it can give you a dramatic look without much time or effort.

When applied or worn correctly, black eyeliner can alter and compliment all eyes shapes, depending on how it is applied.

If you have big set eyes

For example, if you have big eyes but would prefer a more sultry look, lining both your lash and water line will make your eyes appear smaller and in turn, stunningly seductive. Big eyes can also pull off high volume lashes, so don't be afraid to play around with falsies.

If you have deep set eyes

Deep set eyes can make you look sleepy. So, applying black eyeliner to the outer one-third of both your lash and water line will make your eyes stand out. If you are feeling creative, why not wing your eyeliner in order to emphasise the effect?

UK Retail Sales Flat In November, Says ONS

UK retail sales failed to grow in November, adding to fears that consumers are reining in spending ahead of Christmas. UK retail sales volumes were flat in November compared with October, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. They had been expected to bounce back after October’s shock 0.8% fall. The one bright spot was in household goods stores, where sales rose by 3.8% on the month, including consumer electrical items. The pick-up in electrical sales may in part reflect a rush to buy discounted stock at the failed Comet chain, which closed its doors for the final time earlier this week. In contrast, sales of both food and clothing (including shoes) registered a 0.1% drop from the month before. Visa added to the bleak picture, announcing that the total value of sales using its payment system in the week to Sunday, 16 December – the penultimate week before Christmas – was down by 2.9% from a year ago. About Cometonigeria.com

The concept behind COMETONIGERIA.COM came up in order to let the whole world rediscover the abundant wealth of opportunities Nigeria has to offer and to encourage tourism and its potential role as a major instrument for socio-economic development. We believe that by doing this, we will be able to open windows of opportunity not only for the locals, but also for the tourists for interaction and cultural exchange.

Nigeria as a country is the most populous country in Africa and the eighth most populous country in the world with a population of over 140 million. Tourism is relatively a budding enterprise in Nigeria but owing to Nigeria’s potentials, it has undergone a gradual but progressive evolution in the past three decades.

Nigeria is a country greatly endowed. It is blessed with warm, sundry climate, over 800 kilometers of fascinating beaches and evergreen vegetation in the South, while in the North, alluring landforms overshadows savannah grasslands. Added to these are the interesting natural features in form of water falls, springs, hills, some mountainous areas with temperate like climate and a range of special and common species of tropical wildlife.

These, coupled with wide market opportunities, diverse socio-cultural heritage that gives the nation its uniqueness and the hospitality of the about 120 million people earn Nigeria the sobriquet, GIANT OF AFRICA.

It is almost impossible to deny Nigeria its prime of place amongst the richly endowed potential tourist destinations in the world. For these and other common reasons, we decided to create an avenue through which tourism in Nigeria would be properly and extensively rebranded, thereby open up the gate for tourists to come in.

Hatlab Icecream

Our Story
Once upon a spree to Rome we came across a Gelateria- Ice cream place, which offered an assortment of the finest ice cream ever tasted; what a cool, creamy, and refreshing treat. “Is all of this ice cream,” we asked?
“This is the world’s finest ice cream, it is called gelato,” replied the employee with a smile on her face. Little did we know that the word “gelato” would turn out to be such a huge part of our lives? Once we left the ice cream place, we could not wait to come across it again, let alone did we stop thinking of replicating such back home in Nigeria.

We began to make inquiries from companies that offered ingredients to make gelato. Due to pure interest, we scheduled to explore some facilities to see what they had to offer, and enroll in their Gelato Training.

Finally, our irresistible desire for the gelato was satisfied. After days of making and creating authentic Italian gelato, we realized that this was a secret that we needed to share.
After months of planning, importing equipment and products from Italy we were proud to introduce the finest authentic Italian gelato to the Abuja community in December 2003.

Our Vision
Hatlab seeks to become the preferred one stop-shop for traditional Italian ice cream and complimentary products in Nigeria.

Our Mission
To create an enduring brand of ice cream and other complimentary products that will satisfy the need for quality and international standards, there-by giving our customers an ultimate experience.
